Registered assistance dogs are permitted to stay overnight in the chapels on the Peak Wesley Way route. Other well-behaved dogs may be considered upon request and on acceptance of our conditions and a small surcharge. The decision to allow dogs will be reviewed periodically.

There is no minimum or maximum age to walk the Peak Wesley Way, but note that it involves walking 50 miles over six days on sometimes uneven terrain. See the Pilgrimage page for more details. Each group must contain at least one adult (18+).

You will need to organise your own group of up to six people. We will provide a guide book to navigate the route and journal pads to help you reflect as you travel. Local volunteers will greet you in some of the chapels you stay in.
The pilgrimage route starts at Matlock Station and concludes at Edale Station. Our rural chapels do not all have onsite parking.

Peak Wesley Way is part of Peak Methodist Circuit (registered charity 1135656). Your pilgrimage helps us sustain our chapels as places of community for youth groups, repair cafes, art groups, lunch clubs and more. Most of the work of creating and sustaining Peak Wesley Way is by volunteers.

We do not currently offer a bag carrying service. There are several cafes, shops and pubs along the route, reducing the amount of food you will need to carry.

A non-returnable 20% deposit is payable on booking, with the balance payable four weeks prior to the start of your pilgrimage. We are only able to cancel bookings in exceptional circumstances once the balance has been paid. Because each group has exclusive use of chapels overnight, we cannot easily replace cancelled bookings at short notice.

Each booking, of up to six people, will have exclusive access to sleeping space in each chapel overnight.

Whilst we have taken care with setting and marking the Peak Wesley Way route and creating safe environments within our chapels, you are responsible for your own safety whilst walking the pilgrimage. We recommend that you take out your own travel insurance policy.
Peak Wesley Way is informed by our Methodist Christian beliefs and practices, but we offer it as an opportunity for people of all faiths and none to undertake their own pilgrimage or spiritual journey.

As a charity we want to make the Peak Wesley Way accessible to as many people as possible by keeping our prices low and offering discounts to people least able to pay. A concessionary discount of £25 is available for any pilgrim who is

  • under 18 at the time of starting the pilgrimage;
  • a student in full time education;
  • or in receipt of statutory benefits (Universal Credit, Income Support, Pension Credit, Disabled Living Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, Personal Independence Payment).

We cannot process bookings starting in fewer than seven days through our website. Contact us directly for enquires about booking a starting your pilgrimage starting in the next few days.
